Hypnotherapy Uses > Asthma
The muscles in the lungs are governed by the subconscious mind, in the same way as our digestive and hormonal system. If we are excited or tense, then everything we do is done too quickly or too forcefully. And when we find ourselves in either one of these states, wrong information is fed to the subconscious mind and thus an asthmatic attack is triggered by the muscles going into spasm.
When an asthma sufferer finds an attack coming on, they should try to relax, but if they have learnt how to relax deeply the attack will usually pass. The good news is Hypnotherapy effectively helps you to do this.
For example, if you have a child who suffers from asthma, you should try to do the following with them, when they start to wheeze, listen to the child’s chest while at the same time speaking words of encouragement and kindness to them, telling them to breathe quietly in and out. When this is done we generally find the asthma disappears. If you then however, tell the child to remember a bad attack the wheeze reoccurs and the muscles go into spasm again. This just goes to show how asthma can be so easily treated through relaxation techniques and using the power of the mind.
The first thought for anyone suffering from asthma should be to relax when an attack begins. And by the time the sufferer goes to get his medication he finds that the attack has abated and there is no need for them. Which is much safer for the asthma sufferer in the long run as the medication paralyses the tiny muscles of the lungs, so if this paralysis can be avoided by using relaxation techniques, it is much safer.
