Questions & Answers

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis induces a state of consciousness similar to a state of deep daydreaming. During this trance-like state, the conscious or rational part of the brain is temporarily tuned out, making the subconscious mind subject to suggestions offered by the hypnotherapist. In this highly relaxed state, the subconscious mind can be desensitized to phobias, fears, tragic memories, or even pain.

Are there some people who cannot be hypnotised?
No, hypnosis is a naturally occurring level of awareness as everyone naturally enters a state of hypnosis at least twice everyday: just before falling asleep at night, and upon awaking every morning, just before getting out of bed. Most people easily enter 'Environmental Hypnosis' while at the cinema, watching TV, driving on the highway, or when engrossed in a good book. Therefore everyone has the ability to be hypnotised, however the depth of hypnosis will vary from person to person.

Are you aware of what's happening?
Yes, you can hear everything that is said during the session although you may not remember everything once the session is over.

So I'm not asleep then?
No, you are simply extremely relaxed.

Can you be influenced to do anything against your will?
No, in fact if any such action were suggested to you, you would be shocked out of the hypnotic state. In Hypnosis the client is completely in control. All hypnosis is self induced, the therapist only acts as a facilitator and cannot hypnotize anyone unless they are willing to participate in the process. The person enters the hypnotic state on their own accord by simply following the directions of the therapist.

Who can be helped by Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy has been shown to be very helpful as a complement to medical treatment for a wide variety of conditions. Because of the deep relaxation that occurs, hypnotherapy helps with any condition affected by high stress including heart conditions, gastrointestinal problems, cancer or any chronic diseases. Therapy is also very effective with pain control for headaches, menstrual pain, and most other pains.

It has even been used in place of anesthesia in surgical procedures with amazing results observed during the procedure and in the way the person heals following the procedure. Hypnosis is also effective for addictions, anxiety, depression and phobias.

However, hypnotherapy is not just for people who are suffering from problems. Hypnotherapy can also be used to improve performance or enhance existing skills. It is very beneficial for improving limiting mindsets and helping people achieve their desired goals.
